Dr. Xiaochuan Tang is an Associate Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor of the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection, at Chengdu University of Technology, China. He is a Senior Member of the China Computer Federation (CCF) and a member of IEEE, ACM, and CAAI. He serves as a Visiting Professor in Engineering Geology at the University of Padova, Italy, and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). He currently holds the positions of Head of the Expert Service Group of the Chengdu Association for Science and Technology, Council Member of the Sichuan Youth Association for Science and Technology (SYAST), and Expert Advisor to the SiChuan Scientific Collaborative Innovation Promoting Association (SSCIPA). He received his Ph.D. degree from UESTC in 2018. In 2019, he conducted postdoctoral research at the State Key Laboratory of Wireless Communications, and subsequently joined the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection.
He has long been engaged in research on trustworthy artificial intelligence theories and their applications in geohazard prevention and mitigation. His main research interests include explainable artificial intelligence, deep learning for time series, federated learning, intelligent detection and early warning of landslides, and robotic systems for geohazard prevention and mitigation.
He has been the PI of over 10 national- and provincial-level research projects, including the project of the National Key R&D Program of China, the General Program of the Natural Science Foundation of Sichuan Province, the General Program of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the Central Government-Guided Local Science and Technology Development Program, the Sichuan High-Level Foreign Talent Introduction Program, and the Excellent Program for Scientific and Technological Activities of Returned Overseas Scholars in Sichuan. As a key researcher, he has also participated in more than 10 major projects, including the National Key R&D Program of China, major science and technology projects of Sichuan Province, and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
He has published more than 40 papers in leading journals such as JGR: Machine Learning and Computation, Landslides, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications, and Applications, Knowledge-Based Systems. He has applied over 30 Chinese invention patents and has been granted two international patents.
He serves as a reviewer for more than 10 leading SCI journals, including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (IEEE TKDE), IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (IEEE TGRS), IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing (IEEE JSTARS), Remote Sensing of Environment (RSE), and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (EAAI).
